St Mary’s is Grade I listed. Its fabric includes pre-Conquest masonry, medieval stonework, historic monuments, woodwork and stained glass. Repairs to a building of this importance require specialist assessment, appropriate materials and careful conservation methods.
The parish is committed to publishing fundraising targets and progress only when figures have been formally confirmed. If the progress panel shows that figures are awaiting confirmation, no target or total should be inferred from the website.
Condition surveys and quinquennial inspections identify defects and help prioritise work.
Historic stone, roofs, windows, monuments and timber may require specialist conservation expertise and permissions.
The aim is not simply to preserve a monument, but to sustain a living church for worship, visitors and future generations.
If you would like to help with conservation fundraising, volunteering or a gift, please contact the parish or use an approved giving method.
